For sale is a C. Bechstein IV grand piano (semi-concert grand piano), 220 cm, serial number 35210 1896. You can view and listen to several video recordings of this instrument on our website or our YouTube page. The comparable current model would be the C. Bechstein B 212cm grand piano, which has a new price of over 100,000 euros.
On February 5, 2022, the instrument received a fresh, complex 40-hour service for regulation and intonation from the world-renowned concert technician “Stephane Boussuge”. The post-14 & 15 studio recording sessions on Musism’s website and YouTube channel were recorded after this service. (See pictures) The recordings were of course mixed with a minimum of approx. 20% reverberation effect without a compressor.
Recently, in October 2021, the grand piano was restored in his factory by our master piano builder with around 40 years of experience. All parts have been disassembled, adjusted, serviced, and renewed. Strings, hammerheads, and dampers have been renewed. The instrument and soundboard have also received a fresh coat of paint. The sound of the instrument is like new with a late-romantic sound characteristic because the instrument also dates from this epoch in terms of construction, 1896. The basses sound very harmonious in the overtones, in contrast to the smaller instruments such as saloons or supporting grand pianos. When it comes to sound characteristics and longevity, the German handmade instruments are unrivaled and C. Bechstein has always been one of the strongest brands, maybe in the top 3 on the market. This example comes from a period when Bechstein generated the most sales figures. The great musicians of the late Romantic period, such as Franz Liszt, played on stages with exactly this series. The instrument is very vocal.
